Flight Lieutenant Bobby
Moore, 31, is a Qualified Flying Instructor on 72 Squadron,
RAF Linton-on-Ouse. Interested in flying from an early
age he gained a RAF Sixth Form Scholarship and Flying
Scholarship whilst at Brentwood School in Essex. Bobby
joined the RAF on leaving school in 1995. Following
Initial Officer Training at the RAF College Cranwell
he completed Flying Training on the Firefly, Tucano
and Jetstream aircraft, gaining his “wings”
in 1998.
On completion
of Flying Training Bobby was posted to 70 Sqn, RAF Lyneham.
There he was employed in both Strategic and Tactical
Air Transport Roles, flying the K model C130 Hercules.
During his time on the Hercules he flew on Operations
into Kosovo and Sierra Leone, was detached to the Falkland
Islands and participated in major exercises in Canada,
the USA and the Sultanate of Oman. In 2002 Bobby was
selected for instructional duties. He firstly instructed
on the Tutor at RAF Leeming and returned to Linton and
the Tucano in 2004. With over 2900 military flying hours
Bobby considers flying low level aerobatics in the Tucano
display to be, in pure flying terms, the highlight of
his career so far.
